Did you know that 21st April marks National Tea Day in UK?
We thought as a nation of tea lovers, why don't we celebrate with a blog post full of the best places to visit for afternoon tea in and around Rutland.
Happy National Tea Day!
Rutland Water Garden Centre, Lydon Road, Manton, LE15 8RN
Wellies was not originally listed on this page, however, it has come to my attention that Wellies Coffee Shop at Rutland Water Garden Centre near Manton is actually a favourite for afternoon tea among The Rutland Blogger readers. So of course, I had to amend the post and include the favourite that is Wellies.
Upon research, it actually proves that Wellies is the most affordable amongst the listings at under £13. It appears you have to book in advance (at least 2 days notice) but the photographs of the afternoon tea look amazing, I will definitely be visiting with my Mother, who takes my Grandad there on a regular basis for a coffee and a cake!
2 Church Passage, Oakham, LE15
New to Oakham this year (and already a popular favourite with the locals!) is Kavanagh's Tea Room. Nestled in the heart of Oakham down Church Passage is a quaint and quirky tea room, owned by Clare Kavanagh. With 3 floors of vintage styling and themed rooms (the blossom room is my favourite), Kavanagh's is a very lovely setting for afternoon tea in Rutland. I've visited twice myself, once for afternoon tea for my Mother's birthday. The cake was lovely and the sandwiches too, however, the only thing that was missing was our afternoon tea tiered stand. Although, I'm assured they usually have them.
7 High St E, Uppingham, LE15 9PY
One of my favourite places for lunch, as I live in Uppingham. The Falcon is a 16th Century Inn and located in the heart of Uppingham's Market Place. With cosy seating and dining tables surrounding wood fires. The Falcon also has its 'Snug' which is perfect for the evening overlooking the market place.

A country house and hotel located near Melton Mowbray and offers everything from dining experiences, spa and fitness, golf and is an idyllic wedding venue.

The Orangery is located at Burghley House in Stamford and open daily from 10am to 5pm is a lovely spot for lunch or dinner with the large 18th century windows providing bright light in the day and intimate and elegant in the evening.

A 17th century country inn situated in the heart of Hambleton peninsula on Rutland Water. With beamed ceilings, cask ales and elegant garden room with stunning views over the water, it's the perfect place to relax.

One of England's greatest coaching inns, The George is unique and features the oak-panelled restaurant, log fires, garden room restaurant, afternoon tea, courtyard, bars and lounged. It really is a gem located in the heart of Stamford.
