From Rutland to: Chapel St Leonards, Lincolnshire Coast | Family & Dog-Friendly Staycation with Private Beach Access

I think I’ve found the perfect family and dog-friendly Airbnb—with private beach access—on the edge of a charming seaside village on the East Lincolnshire Coast.

I love a winter staycation. It’s the best way to explore new corners of the UK without the crowds and it’s incredible value too.

This spacious beach-side bungalow sleeps up to seven across three beautifully designed bedrooms and offers so much both inside and out. There’s a huge driveway and a large wrap-around garden and you’re just a short stroll from the village pub, the North Sea Observatory and the local Co-op. But the real highlight? Your very own private pathway leading straight to the beach—for under £250 per night (we actually paid only £187 per night). How rare is that?

I stumbled across this dreamy bungalow while doing my usual Airbnb search for ‘dog-friendly with 2+ bedrooms,’ and up popped this guest-favourite find in Chapel St Leonards. A part of the UK I’d never visited before—yes, a Skeggy virgin over here.

We’ve completely fallen for this bungalow. 'Miles by the Sea' by name, but really just a stone’s throw from everything you need. I cannot wait to rebook (fingers crossed for a summer slot!). It’s completely changed my preconception of this coastline and at just two hours from Rutland, it’s the perfect spot for a family-and-dog-friendly adventure.

A private path with steps over the dunes at the back of Miles gives you direct access to a stunning stretch of sandy beach. Enjoy your takeaway morning coffee from The North Sea Observatory on the steps while watching the North Sea roar and waves crash as you stroll past the pretty little beach huts. Perfection.

Miles offers three spacious bedrooms—one twin and two with superking beds that can also be set up as twins. Oak parquet flooring and antique furnishings add a touch of vintage charm, while luxurious linens, underfloor heating and a beautiful wood-burning stove top it off for comfort and relaxation.

The kitchen is kitted out with everything you could need. The beautifully appointed family bathroom features both a bath and a separate shower. In addition, the master bedroom has its own en-suite with a rainfall shower and there’s even a separate WC near the twin and second bedrooms.

Outside, there’s a BBQ, ample seating both front and rear and even a garden shower—perfect for washing off sandy toes (or muddy paws!).

The beach by Miles is perfect for dog walks and with dog-friendly pubs and cafés less than 500m away, it’s a dream location for four-legged friends.

Whether you’re looking for a traditional family seaside holiday, a peaceful coastal winter retreat, or a dog-friendly base to explore the Lincolnshire Wolds and coast, this little gem has everything you need.

Chapel St Leonards is the perfect base, just 10-15 minutes from Skegness (don’t miss Skegness Aquarium!), 20 minutes from Mablethorpe, and only 10 minutes from Butlins. Plus, you’re within 30 minutes of fantastic local attractions like Lincolnshire Wildlife Park. It really is the ideal spot to explore the best of this coastline and the Lincolnshire Wolds.

Would you love to stay here?
