With Barclays - Uppingham's only bank - set to close next month, it appears the town is also losing Victoria Pharmacy due to NHS funding cuts. The pharmacy, which is set in the centre of the town in the Market Place next door to The Post Office is due to close at the end of the month on 29th March after providing its services in the town for over 30 years.
Peter Coles who runs the establishment said:
"Sad to announce that Victoria Pharmacy will be shutting its doors for the time on 29th March due to NHS funding cuts. We are providing full prescription collection and delivery service as usual but from our Ashdale branch. We thank all our local patients and customers for supporting us here over the last 31 years. Thank you from all the staff at Victoria Pharmacy."
This really is sad news for the town who are devastated to lose their only bank this year but the pharmacy team at Victoria want to reassure patients that things will continue as normal but from up the road at their sister branch, Ashdale Pharmacy located on-site at Uppingham Surgery on Ayston Road.
